Kathy Powell Larson

Kathy Powell Larson,
Executive Director and Director of Engineering

Kathy holds an MA in International Management, a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and is a graduate of Landmark Education. She has traveled in 43 countries and lived in Europe and Latin America.

Kathy specializes in overseeing projects that are said to be impossible, yet her record of accomplishment is impeccable. Her experience includes setting up manufacturing plants, one of which was in Guadalajara, Mexico, working with unions, assembly lines, sales and projects team, nationally and internationally, and developing businesses with budgets of up to 750 million dollars.

Kathy wants to make an impact in Honduras large enough to radically reduce the need for the people to flee the country in order to survive.

Matt Verbyla

Matt Verbyla,
Engineering Project Manager - Honduras

Matt graduated from Lafayette College in 2006 with a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering. After working for a year as a site and civil engineer at a private consulting firm, Matt was awarded a Fullbright Scholarship to further pursue his interest in potable water in rural Honduras. He spent a year in small villages in the department of Yoro working with communities to understand water and sanitation needs.

Matt’s involvement with development projects in Honduras started in 2004, when he participated in the design of potable water systems for several communities in the department of Yoro as a member of the Lafayette College chapter of Engineers Without Borders.

Since graduating from Lafayette College, he has also served as the volunteer liaison for Engineers Without Borders projects in Honduras
