The community of Luis Garcia Bustamante has been growing at an astonishing rate because of the growing industry located in the region. Despite a recent addition of two classrooms in February 2008, the elementary school and kindergarten are over capacity. In addition, the community has identified the need for improved drainage on the school property.
Several drainage channels passing through the school courtyard carry raw sewage waste coming from the houses directly east of the school. The community has noted there is an abundance of community members willing and able to provide skilled and unskilled labor for the project. The main need is funds for materials.
