Los Achiotes,Yoro
Water

The community of Los Achiotes has a population of approximately 80 people. A single HDPE pipe provides the community provisional water service. The pipe is stuck into the nearby river at an upstream location. No storage is provided. Water service is intermittent and is available in less than half of the households. The school does not have water service. .

Global Community Development proposes to construct a spring box upstream of the current pipe intake location. A conduction line to a tank would feed into a distribution network to provide service to each house in the community. Decentralized treatment is proposed for each household with either slow-sand filters or ceramic filters. Both are produced locally in a factory in Honduras. .
