Ojo de AguaWater, Yoro
Sanitation

The community of Ojo de Agua has a population of approximately 110 people. Several nearby springs provide enough water for the community. The problem is that the springs are located at a lower elevation than the houses in the community.

Without electricity, the community does not have a way to pump the water to their households. Women and children spend hours each day hauling water from the springs. Community members could be using this time for more productive activities. Health and safety are also problems.

Global Community Development proposes to install a combination of solar water pumps to pump the water from the springs to an elevated storage tank. Rainwater catchment units could supplement the potable water and be used for washing and bathing.
